Over 300 People Served! Thanks to all who came out to eat a tasty breakfast of pancakes, eggs, and ham on Saturday! Due to the generous donations from Kristina's, Blue Lake Casino, and Humboldt Creamery, over $850 was raised by PTO! Thanks also to the Elks who helped cook, serve and run the event, along with the parents and teachers who are always willing to lend a hand. Check out the photos here. |

The Dances were So Much Fun!

Pine Hill Adopted by Elks! The Eureka Elks Lodge has officially adopted Pine Hill Elementary School! From their December newsletter: It was brought to our attention that the needs of many of the children at the school have grown more and more over the past years. Our hope is that we can help them remain in school and improve the quality of life for their families. Even a small difference can have a significant impact. The partnership will include many activities: Elks programs, helping them with fundraising, student support, etc.Members helped out tremendously during the Winter Festival with donations of food, raffle items, and workers (see below) and they created 200 food baskets for families during the 2-week winter break! They look forward to many more volunteer opportunities with the school and PTO looks forward to working with them on various events. THANK YOU EUREKA ELKS LODGE! |

Take Your Books to Booklegger in Eureka!Librarian Phyl Weiderman has set up accounts at Booklegger (402 2nd Street, Old Town) to benefit both schools' libraries. Take in your old books and if the store accepts them, the schools get the credit to purchase new books and/or replacement copies. This is an easy way to weed out your home bookshelves and help the libraries and our kids! Contact Phyl for more information. |
Give 2
The PTO has had many wonderful volunteers at our sponsored activities over the years and we couldn't do what we do without them. We know there are more of you out there who would like to help but don't want to make a huge time commitment. We also understand that you get tired of the constant appeal for volunteers.
What if we asked you to commit to 2 hours at any event of your choosing during the school year and didn't bug you the rest of the time?
You could use those 2 hours to bake goodies for an event, work the concession stand at a dance, or visit businesses for raffle donations. If everyone with a child at South Bay or Pine Hill donated 2 hours of his or her time, that help would really add up!
Give 2 the School
Give 2 the Students
