Helping Our Schools
The money raised during PTO-sponsored events is used for various items for the schools and individual classrooms. Funds raised have been spent on tricycles for the kindergarten classes; math manipulatives and art supplies for classrooms; the libraries' PERK programs including books, tests, theBBQ and fun day; instruments for the music program; Santa hats for the choir; and Healthy Start's Food for Families.
Besides the events that need committee members and volunteers, there are other ways to help PTO and the schools:
- Child care for PTO meetings
- Back-to-School Nights (September) - coordinate refreshments, set-up, clean-up
- Membership Drives - collect dues, organize names, coordinate rewards parties
- Apples for Educators (October) - provide refreshments and decorate staff lounges
- Snacks for STAR Testing (May) - coordinate snacks
- Create newsletters, questionnaires, fliers - copy and deliver to schools for disbursement
- Cheerleader - visit classrooms and get students excited about school events
- Graduation Party (June) - coordinate refreshments, decorate, clean-up
